New Mexico's statewide base sales tax rate is 4.875%, before local/district taxes that push the combined rate higher in many areas.

The New Mexico sales tax rate

State-level GRT base rate is 4.875%, effective July 1, 2023 (reduced from 5.0% via 2022 legislation signed by Gov. Lujan Grisham; prior rate was 5.125% before July 1, 2022). Combined rates with county and municipal GRT increments range from approximately 5.5% to 9.4375% depending on location.

New Mexico uses destination-style rates in most cases, so the rate you charge depends on where your buyer is — the state base of 4.875% plus any local/district tax at the delivery address.
